Alfred to play his part in history talk

Some of Alfred Williams's observations about his native South Marston are to feature in a timely talk about the village's history.

The talk, called The Complete History of South Marston, will be delivered by Darren Cook of the South Marston History Society, at the Village Hall, starting at 7pm on Tuesday, November 24.

It comes at a time when South Marston is standing at a crossroads. The still rural atmosphere of the area that Alfred Williams knew so well is under threat from enormous development, with plans to build 5,000 homes in the parish, including 1,000 in the centre of the village, as part of Swindon's 12,000-home Eastern Development.

For more information about the talk, contact Darren on 01793 832999.
