Festival of Literature date confirmed
An Alfred Williams-inspired event has been confirmed as part of the prestigious Swindon Festival of Literature.
On Thursday, May 6, starting at 11am, there will be an hour-long walk around South Marston, taking in the four cottages in which Alfred lived, and his grave. There will be readings at each site, and the whole event will last about an hour.
Led by Kaye Franklin, Chris Bowles and Roy Burton of The Friends of Alfred Williams, the event will start from the public car park next to South Marston School (grid reference 194879, postcode SN3 4SH).
The festival, which last year featured Sir David Attenborough, runs from May 3 to May 15 this year, and guest speakers will include Cherie Blair, Jenni Murray, Maureen Lipman and Peter Tatchell.
