Success of the Anniversary Walk
Nearly 40 people turned out for the Friends of Alfred Williams's Anniversary Walk, which was part of the Swindon Festival of Literature.
Roy Burton, who ran the event with Kaye and Graham Franklin, said he was delighted with the turnout, which was much more than organisers expected, and reflected a growing interest in Alfred's life and work.
Organised to mark the 40th anniversary of the forming of the Friends, the event featured readings at key locations associated with Alfred's life in South Marston, ending with a visit to his graveside and South Marston church.
The Swindon Festival of Literature, which has become one of the most prestigious in the south-west, runs until May 15.
